“Gurney’s influences and inspirations”
Taking inspiration from living composer Ian Venables’s cycle The Pine Boughs Past Music op.39, British pianist Claire Habbershaw and British mezzo soprano Rachel Roper perform a song recital of Ivor Gurney’s music, settings of his poetry and music by composers who were his influences and inspirations, including Howells, Venables, Finzi, Vaughan-Williams, Elgar and Stanford.
This performance includes the world premiere of a solo piano piece by Ivor Gurney, “Autumn”.
This performance is generously sponsored by The Herbert Howells Society.
